WebCT 4.1 Practice Course

Overview
The WebCT Practice Course introduces you to the WebCT environment and guides you through using some of the most commonly used features (e.g. Discussions, Quizzes, Surveys).  The Practice Course also includes information on how to access on-line library resources at UMDNJ. By becoming familiar with the tools in this practice course, you will be able to navigate through web-based and web-enhanced academic courses more easily. Students and faculty may participate in the WebCT Practice Course. 

How long will it take?
You may work through the WebCT Practice Course at your own pace. Simply reading through the material may take you 30-45 minutes. If you are in a web-based course we highly recommend that your test your access to On-line Library Resources and also try the course tools, especially the Discussions and Quiz and Survey tools.

How to Enroll in the WebCT Practice Course

1. You must have a UMDNJ User ID. Go here for more information.
   
   
2. Log into WebCT through https://my.UMDNJ.edu. From the Welcome page, click on the Education tab which will take you to the Education page.
   
   

   On the right side of the Education page, find My Courses, On-Line Courseware@UMDNJ . Click on the link WebCT Campus Edition (Most Courses and Training). That link will take you directly into WebCT.

   
   When you see your myWebCT page, look at the courses listed and check that the WebCT Practice Course is not already listed as one of your courses. If the WebCT Practice Course is already listed, click on the course title to enter the course. If it is not already listed, go to Step 3 below.
   
   NOTE: For alternate access to WebCT, you may log in at www.umdnj.edu/webct (opens in new window). Your login credentials will be the same ones you use for logging into my.UMDNJ.edu.



3. Find and click on the following link under Institutional Bookmarks or Announcements:
   New to WebCT? Take the WebCT Practice Course!
   
   IF YOU ARE ALREADY ENROLLED IN THE WEBCT PRACTICE COURSE, YOU WILL GET AN ERROR. THE WEBCT PRACTICE COURSE SHOULD BE LISTED ON YOUR MYWEBCT PAGE.
   
   
4. On the next screen fill out the required and optional fields and click the Continue button ONCE. Click, "Go to the course", or return to your myWebCT where you'll see the WebCT Practice Course listed. Click on the course title to enter the course.
