ERROR MESSAGES
Spyware
Alert!!!
Some WebCT
users have reported that when they click the log on link, they are
unable to reach the correct page. Instead, they are being redirected
to an unfamiliar page. The reported unfamiliar web addresses include
"incredifind.com" and "internet-optimizer.com".
This unusual
behavior is probably caused by spyware on your computer. It may effect
Internet Explorer and not effect Netscape.
How
do I rule out a network problem?
Try the Test
your Access to the Server link at the bottom of the WebCT
gateway page. If your test is successful, it means you can connect
to WebCT and the network is fine. If your test results in a typical
"Page Not Found" or "Operation timed out" message,
there may be a network problem.

What
should I do if I suspect that my problems are related to spyware?

run an anti-spyware program on your computer. If you are using a UMDNJ
computer and you do not want to do this yourself, contact the Action
Line at 3-3200.
Use one of
the free anti-spyware programs available on the internet. ACS staff
have used these programs.

If you resolve
the problem, please send us an email
to let us know what anti-spyware program you used and what steps you
took.
What should
I do if after I install and run the anti-spyware program the problem
continues?
Try reinstalling
Internet Explorer.
If your problem
persists, contact the help
desk so we can investigate further.
How
do I prevent this from happening in the future?
Keep your
anti-spyware program up-to-date and run it everyday to eliminate new
spyware that finds its way onto your computer.
