All students spend their first two years primarily in Piscataway for their pre-clinical education and in New Brunswick, Princeton or Camden during the last two years. There is a great emphasis on case-oriented learning throughout the curriculum. The third and fourth year curricula are taught in clinical environments, both in hospitals, ambulatory settings and physician's offices. The fourth year is subdivided into eleven, four-week periods including four required advanced rotations in Ambulatory Medicine, Surgery, Neurology, a sub-internship, and a minimum of four electives. A flexible fourth year schedule has been established to help students increase their specialty awareness and clinical competencies. This intensive clinical experience prepares physicians to be life long learners in their field of study.
