Hospital Admissions Resulting From Violence

During the period between 1995-2000, there has been a decline in the overall rate of hospitalizations resulting from violence.

Men, and African-American men in particular, were disproportionately more likely to be hospitalized as a result of violence victimization.

Although the majority of victims requiring hospitalization were injured with some type of weapon, unamed attacks were the single most common cause of injury to patients.
