Knowing a school district's needs is a critical first step toward developing effective and sustainable prevention programming. The Violence Institute has worked with school districts to investigate their safe and drug-free status by providing technical assistance in the administration of a survey on violence, school safety, and substance use. Comprised of questions taken from state and national surveys, the findings from this survey assist school districts in determining what behaviors occur in their district, and how their district compares with the state and the nation. In its technical assistance capacity, VINJ:

Provides
a student survey in a format compatible with district scanning capabilities
a parent consent form for district use
a database for tracking parental consent
a student consent form for district use
technical assistance with sampling and data interpretation
Trains District Personnel

in parent consent database management and report generation
in survey administration
