Creating Safe and Respectful Environments Video Presentation

The Creating Safe and Respectful Environments Video Presentation is a powerful learning tool that can be used in a variety of ways to train your officers and staff in the philosophy and techniques of "Creating Safe and Respectful Environments." The presentation is approximately one hour long and includes interviews with Juvenile Detention Officers from around New Jersey, video of Lead Trainer Frank Picone presenting key concepts, and a video demonstration of the 16 Strategies at work.

The video presentation of Creating Safe and Respectful Environments can now be viewed online. When viewing the presentation over the internet, please allow time for the entire presentation to load prior to beginning. This presentation will work best if your computer has high speed internet access, such as a cable-modem, T1 line or DSL. This presentation is not recommended to be viewed over a standard dial-up connection.

Instructions for Use of CD

  • Minimum system requirements: Microsoft Windows 98 OS (or higher) or Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 OS (or higher); Microsoft Windows Media Player 6.4 (or higher); Windows Media Player 7.0 (or higher) is recommended to optimize presentation playback. Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 (or higher).
  • This CD training tool comes with a training packet. Please refer to that packet for assistance in using this CD with a group.
  • This CD will automatically begin playing once loaded into the computer's CD or DVD drive.
  • A window will appear that states the following:
    "Active content can harm your computer or disclose personal information. Are you sure that you want to allow CD's to run active content on your computer?"
  • Click the "Yes" button. The first screen of the presentation will appear.
  • Click "Play" in the upper left corner of the screen. A screen with a video, a Power-point slide and the Table of Contents will appear.
  • You can play, pause, move forward or backward at any time in the presentation by either clicking on the headings in the Table of Contents, or by using the control icons under the video.
