Effective January 1, 2008, the application fee for a U.S. non-immigrant visa will increase from $100 to $131. Applicants who paid the prior $100 application fee before January 1 will be processed only if they are scheduled and appear for a visa interview before January 31. Applicants who paid the prior $100 application fee and appear for visa interviews after January 31, 2008 must pay the difference -- $31 -- before they will be interviewed.

- Department of State Extends Visa Application Window
On
February 9, 2006 , the U.S. Department of State announced
that individuals applying
for the F-1 visa may now be issued those visas up
to 120 days prior to the start date of their program.
However, initial F-1 students will still only be permitted
to enter the U.S. up to 30 days prior to the start

- USCIS Fee Increase. The fee will increase
in processing certain immigration forms beginning
October 26, 2005. The forms included in this fee change
are the I-129, I-539, I-485, and I-765. On average,
the increase is approximately five dollars higher
