Biography
Jean was born in South Korea and raised in Cherry Hill, NJ. She received her BA in 2004 from NYU's Gallatin School of Individualized Study, where she designed her focus of study around Creative Writing, Art History, and Photography. She received her Master's in Public Administration in 2008 from NYU's Wagner School of Public Service, with a focus on public policy. While completing her MPA, she coordinated numerous outreach and enrichment programs for New York City public schools at NYU. She is a graduate of the MFA Creative Writing program at Rutgers University – Newark. Her research interests include: racial and ethnic inequalities in education; the intersection of race, ethnicity, and gender; institutionalized gender roles in schools; and dating violence among high school-aged youth.
