Biography
Renée Hanson holds a master’s degree in sociology from American University in Washington, D.C. and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Maryland in College Park. Her areas of specialization are education, African American history, policy, and sociology.
Ms. Hanson has over ten years of professional experience in education as a former scholar for a public policy corporation in Washington, D.C., as an education program coordinator, education specialist, and teacher. Renée has published a dozen articles/reports in the areas of education, sociology and history. Ms. Hanson co-authored an education report that was featured in The 2009 Harvard Journal of African American Public Policy at the Harvard University Kennedy School of Government.
Ms. Hanson received an award in 2004 for her work with the Ronald E. McNair Post-baccalaureate Program at American University. In 2009, she was awarded a graduate research assistantship, and in 2010, a dissertation fellowship from Rutgers University-Newark.
