Yuri Jadotte recently was selected to participate in two major research projects of the Cochrane Skin Group, the leading international organization for systematic review research in dermatology. He is now the lead author of an international team of eight physician-scientists for the research project “Non-Drug Complementary and Alternative Medicine Interventions for Atopic Eczema,” and also a co-author on another international team of nine physician-scientists for the research project “Hygiene and Emollient Interventions for Maintaining Skin Integrity in Older People in Hospital and Residential Settings.”

Temple University’s Department of Geography and Urban Studies (GUS) invites applications for a full-time tenure track Assistant Professor beginning in academic year 2012-13.  A Ph.D. in Geography or a related field is required by the start of employment. We are looking for individuals who will excel at conducting research and providing graduate and undergraduate instruction in an interdisciplinary department.  GUS (http://www.temple.edu/gus) offers two interdisciplinary undergraduate majors in Geography and Urban Studies and Environmental Studies with nearly 250 majors. GUS also offers two graduate programs - an M.A. in Geography and Urban Studies and a Ph.D. in Urban Studies - consisting of 30 students. 

The successful candidate will have a strong focus on cartography and geovisualization techniques, theory and applications that intersect with research foci in the department, with a strong preference towards individuals who can contribute to urban, health related or environmental research themes. The successful applicant will also demonstrate a strong potential for funded research.

Film Series: Exploring Metropolitan and Urban Issues Around the World

The Joseph C. Cornwall for Metropolitan Studies presents a film series which explores metropolitan and urban centers across the world. Six sessions, each about two hours long, will be held at the Cornwall Center during the academic year. The sessions in metropolitan and urban issues. The films will fill the first hour of the session and will be followed by a discussion of themes and topics present in the films. Refreshments provided.
Session Two: 3-5pm on Thursday, January 31st, 2013
Movies:
(1) Together Against Violence: A large Jamaican community's fight to overcome violence is profiled
(2) Pavements of Gold: The increase in urban poverty and population, caused by globalization, is studied in Lima, Peru

Press Release

Sharese Porter is the recipient of the Spring 2012 Graduate Student Excellence Award sponsored by the Rutgers University Graduate Student Government Association.  The award recognizes and honors graduate students who have excelled in their programs of study. Sharese has demonstrated excellence in academics, research, and service to the Urban Systems Program.  She has also been actively involved in community service initiatives in Newark and underserved communities throughout New Jersey.  The award will be presented to Sharese during the Graduate School Convocation Reception on May 17, 2012.
