Dr. Huey-Shys Chen
Dr. Huey-Shys Chen’s research focuses on instrument development and psychometric validation. She has focused on community-based study, specifically on the primary prevention of high-risk behaviors. 2 of Dr. Chen’s instruments, The Decisional Balance Scale (DBS) and the Self-efficacy in resisting smoking scale (SES) have been requested by scholars from different countries, Taiwan, Hong-Kong, Hungary, Australia, Iran, and a research institute in Maryland to use the one of scales in their studies. Also, the article published in Health Education & Behavior was requested to be used as a case study in the future edition of Dr. Richard Windosr’s book “Evaluation of Health Promotion-Health Education-Disease Prevention Programs, McGraw-Hill. Dr. Chen also serves the reviewer’s role for 2 top rank nursing journals: Research in Nursing and Health, and Journal of Nursing Scholarship. Across discipline, she is also a review board member for International Electronic Journal of Health Education, and also a reviewer for abstract submitted for the section of School Health Education and Services of the American Public Health Association. Internationally, Dr. Chen is an editorial board member for the Chinese Journal of Medicine, published in Beijing, China.
