Lamarr Thomas

Lamarr Thomas is an administrator in the Englewood Public School District where he serves in the capacities of Supervisor of After School Programming and Parental Involvement as well as District Director of the nationally recognized Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) program. After serving in the United States Navy, including Operation Desert Storm, over the last 15 + years he has served in many roles; Social Worker for the Social Service Federation, Support Broker for the Developmentally Disabled, Community Liaison for the Englewood Bd. of Education, and classroom teacher.

Mr. Thomas has received numerous awards, commendations and appreciations that reflect his service. These include, but are not limited to the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, National Defense Service Medal, South West Asia Service Medal w/ Bronze star, the U.S. Achievement Academy Collegiate Social Science Award, The National Dean's List Award, the NJ Dept of Education Governor's Teacher Recognition (2000 & 2004), the Bergen County Board of Chosen Freeholders Certificate of Commendation (2000 & 2004), the Bergen County Executive Certificate of Commendation (2000 & 2004) and the Englewood Board of Education's- Outstanding Performance Award (Teacher of the Year- 2000 & 2004).

Mr. Thomas holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Rutgers University (NCAS) in Social Work, a Master of Arts in Education degree from St. Peter's College in Administration & Supervision and is currently pursuing a PhD in Urban Educational Policy.
