Body parts often don't last a lifetime, sometimes not even half of one. They come with no guarantee, warranty or owner's manual. Disease, injury and aging can ravage bones, organs, joints, ligaments, tendons and skin. Even a sports injury sometimes causes damage that's beyond medicine's ability to repair. So when we are in dire need of a spare part in this age of technological hype and hope, how do we begin to decipher the biologically possible from the realm of science fiction?
