SCHOOL
OF NURSING CELEBRATES "THE BIG 10" This April, the UMDNJ-School of Nursing (SN) celebrated "10 Years of Excellence in Nursing Education" with several special events, including a dinner dance at the Newark Club and the establishment of a special scholarship fund. The school has quite a bit to celebrate. Perhaps the most important of its many accomplishments is the way it has made a variety of degrees in specialty areas more accessible to the residents of New Jersey. Through partnerships with other schools and healthcare institutions, the school has developed a statewide system of both graduate and undergraduate programs. Here is a sampling of joint degrees and other special programs offered by the school and its partners: Associate of Science with Middlesex County College in Edison Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) with Ramapo College of New Jersey and New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT), Newark Master of Science (MS) in nursing informatics with NJIT and Rutgers University, Newark PhD in urban systems with NJIT and Rutgers University, Newark Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) in nurse anesthesia with Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center, Camden Women's Health Nurse Practitioner graduate program with Planned Parenthood Occupational Health Nurse Practitioner (NP) graduate program funded by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) the only such program available in New Jersey and New York. Also in the planning stages: A new track within the already existing MSN programs at the School of Nursing will focus on giving nurses the tools to become faculty or educators within the clinical setting. |
