UMDNJ DOCS WIN AWARD FROM ESSENCE MAGAZINE

    What do UMDNJ alumni Rameck Hunt, MD, George Jenkins, DMD, and Sampson Davis, MD, have in common with basketball legend Michael Jordan and actor Danny Glover? They all received awards from Essence magazine at a gala ceremony at Radio City Music Hall on April 14. You first read about them in the Fall 1999 issue of HealthState. Hunt, Jenkins and Davis grew up together in Newark. While high school students, they pledged to stay together, get good grades, and someday become doctors. They have achieved that goal. Last year, Davis and Hunt graduated from UMDNJ-New Jersey Medical School and Jenkins graduated from UMDNJ-New Jersey Dental School. The three made another pledge: to give back to their community. They have established a charitable foundation. The Three Doctors Foundation, Inc., to help educate Newark youngsters.
