Waters Wins Award From Glamour
Carolyn Waters, AS, parenting educator of Parents Are People Too!
(PP2!), received a SATURN "Women At Their Best" Award
from Glamour magazine for her work in educating inner-city parents
and families in parenting skills. PP2!, a program of UMDNJ-University
Behavioral HealthCare, teaches parents basic parenting skills, including
effective communication, coping with stress and anger and disciplining
appropriately. It is offered at Superior Court of New Jersey, Family
Division, as well as other community agencies, including Apostle
House and Babyland Family Services. Waters was nominated by Diane
Kaufman, MD, assistant professor of clinical psychiatry and clinical
pediatrics at UMDNJ-New Jersey Medical School. Kaufman initiated
the PP2! program in 1990.
