President William F. Owen, Jr., has scheduled three Town Hall meetings to discuss the revised organizational structure, new talent at UMDNJ, diversity and tolerance, strategic vision, and the global financial crisis.

Meetings will be held October 28 in Piscataway, November 3 in Newark and November 10 in Stratford.

Three EMS Professionals Honored  

At the statewide Emergency Medical Services (EMS) conference held in early October in Atlantic City, three members of UMDNJ’s EMS staff received prestigious awards.

Alba Rodriguez, Camden EMS supervisor, was recognized for Outstanding Career EMT-B. Terrence Hoben, NorthSTAR coordinator, received the Outstanding EMS Administrator award. David Langley, Newark EMS training supervisor, was cited as the Outstanding EMS Educator.


 

Top Rating for Broadway House  

For the second year in a row, Broadway House has earned a Five-Star rating from the national healthcare rating agency, HealthGrades.

In addition to this highest rating, Broadway House also earned a perfect score of zero deficiencies in its most recent NJ Department of Health and Senior Services state inspection. Only 12 out of every 100 nursing homes receive a perfect score.

 

International Collaboration at SHRP  

International Collaboration at SHRP Members of the Department of Nutritional Sciences, Graduate Programs in Clinical Nutrition, UMDNJ-School of Health Related Professions (SHRP), have been working with nutrition faculty and students at the Shizuoka University in Japan on advances in dietetics education and practice.

SHRP has a two-year agreement with the Japanese university under which a team from Japan comes to UMDNJ for a two-week didactic and clinical education program on dietetics practice, preceptorships and outcomes research. In addition two SHRP faculty members visit Shizuoka for two weeks each year to do on-site education for students and faculty.
