The week of November 11 to November 17 was designated National Veterans Awareness Week by the United States Senate. UMDNJ recognized the more than 100 members of the University community who served our country in the armed forces and acknowledged the sacrifices of their families as well in a special message from Dr. William F. Owen, Jr., University President. The message asked that we thank those whose contributions have helped maintain our freedoms and the way of life we enjoy. A P.O.W. flag was also raised on the Newark campus to mark this important week. |

The COP 2 COP Hotline marked the seventh year of the partnership between UMDNJ and the New Jersey Department of Personnel at an event on the Piscataway campus to honor law enforcement officers statewide and to raise awareness of suicide prevention. COP 2 COP, which is located at the UMDNJ-University Behavioral HealthCare, is the first program of its kind in the nation legislated into law to focus on suicide prevention and mental health support for law enforcement officers. The hotline is answered by retired cop volunteers and cop clinicians who have a deep understanding of officers' concerns, problems and family issues. COP 2 COP team members are trained in Critical Incident Stress Management. They respond to calls as well as conduct debriefings and defusing sessions following a critical incident. |
