UMDNJ-Shool of Nursing Honors First Graduates of New Program

Seventeen "career changers" earned nursing degrees at a ceremony on the Stratford campus on August 22. They were the first graduates of the Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing program, a rigorous course of study to fulfill the requirements to become registered nurses.

The program is the only fast-track option in South Jersey for individuals with a bachelor's degree in another field to pursue a nursing career. It allows qualified students to earn a BSN in 15 months instead of the traditional four-year program for students with only a high school diploma. The program began on the nursing school's Stratford campus in May 2006. It was launched on the Newark campus in 2004.
