8/3 -- Boys and Girls Club of Newark-Westside Unit Health Fair
Dr. Asha Samant and NJDS students made sure that the community outreach team was well-represented at this event. During the health fair, Dr. Samant and her team taught children how to brush properly, gave them oral heath checks and distributed giveaways.
8/4 -- NJCRI/Project PICH Community Festival
This community festival featured health screenings and activities for the entire family. There was also information about a number of resources that are available for the community.
During the event,
Shante Varnado of Nursing and Rebecca Townes-Mays of Ambulatory Services provided blood pressure and glucose screenings.

8/11 -- 46th Annual Puerto Rican Heritage Statewide Parade of NJ Health Fair
More than 500 people attended this event including our own Julio Colon who conducted blood pressure screenings; Dr. Barbara Suarez, who provided asthma education; and Rhonda McCathern and Guillermina Morales who conducted a colorectal study.

8/11 -- First Seventh Day Adventist Church of Montclair 3rd Annual Community Health Fair "Healthy Families Raising Healthy Children"
Families were the focus of this event, which featured our own outreach team member Dr. Ben Szirth of the New Jersey Medical School Institute of Ophthalmology and Visual Science.

8/18 -- Bethany Baptist Church Town Hall Meeting/Health Fair
UMDCare's Ilsa Curtis and Rebecca Townes-Mays served as our representatives at this event which served as a town hall meeting as well as a health fair. Quite a combination!

8/25 -- Branch Brook Park Farmers and Community Market
There were fresh fruit and vegetables galore as Dr. Laura Hargro of University Center for family Medicine, Shirley Rivera of UMDCare and Christine Huang and several other NJMS students participated in this farmers and community market.

8/26 -- New Vision Full Gospel Church "Taking Glory to the Streets"
Zelia DeSouza of the Screening Access of Value to Essex (SAVE) Program and Pat Hardy of the FXB Center were on hand at this event, which was very well attended.
