COMPETENCY ASSESSMENT 

Prior to performing any Point of Care procedure it is necessary to establish competency in the performance of the test. At present, competency assessment is established by:

Participation in Proficiency Testing

Examination

bullet

Formal observation and assessment

Laboratory training is available through the internet and  by CD-ROM. Please contact the POCT office at (732) 235-8112 if you wish to utilize this training.

Competency assessment in the area of Provider Performed Microscopy is currently based upon slide reviews that are administered periodically through the College of American Pathologists.
