UMDNJ/Purchasing Services assists all UMDNJ Departments with the purchase of UMDN J Fleet vehicles. If a UMDNJ department is interested in purchasing a vehicle for their department, they should contact the appropriate buyer in Purchasing Services. The department should specify the type of vehicle they are looking for and any other specifics regarding the options needed. Purchasing Services then researches and locates the vehicle requested at the lowest cost possible and begins the purchasing process.
Once the vehicle has been purchased through UMDNJ/Purchasing Services, the following New Vehicle Processing Procedure kicks in:
- UMDNJ Purchasing Services requests the vendor deliver the purchased vehicle(s) to UMDNJ Fleet Services, as part of the purchasing process.
NOTE: Vehicle must be delivered with Title and Temporary License Plates.

- Upon receipt of vehicle, UMDNJ Fleet Services will perform a
vehicle inspection confirming vehicle arrived as ordered, and
with all required documentation (Title, Temporary License Plates,
Manuals…). Upon completion, Confirmation of Inspection and
Vehicle Title will be forwarded to UMDNJ Transportation Services
- Upon completion of the processing of the vehicle documents,
UMDNJ Transportation Services will forward applicable license plates,
decals, and documentation, back to UMDNJ Fleet Services.
UMDNJ Fleet Services will install/transfer all items into the vehicle and
then notify the applicable department to pick up their vehicle and put it
