Annual Procurement Fair 2005

UMDNJ Procurement Fair Marks 11th Anniversary

The university has led New Jersey in providing business opportunities to set-aside firms through special programs, joint ventures and business initiatives. This year marks the 11th anniversary of the Office of Supplier Diversity and Vendor Development's annual procurement fair and awards luncheon. The event was held in the Sheraton at Woodbridge Place on October 17th.

Representatives from more than fifty Fortune 500 companies and state agencies met with minority-women-, and veteran-owned businesses in an effort to foster future business opportunities with both UMDNJ and other major corporations. Entertainment was provided by Maestro Donnie Harper and the West Village Quartet.

"The University is committed to having a diversified vendor base," said Ernestine Watson, assistant vice president of the Office of Supplier Diversity and Vendor Development. "The event is part of our continuing effort to foster the growth and development of small businesses. We believe a major step in achieving this objective is offering a forum for meaningful business exchange to ensure the future of set-aside business opportunities. More important, we believe it's just plain, good business."
