WHO WE ARE
The Office
of Supplier Diversity and Vendor Development was created in June
1986 to assist in the development of Small, Minority, and Women-Owned
Businesses on behalf of the University. The responsibility of this
office is to oversee the University's spending as it relates to
the available opportunities to all vendors; to insure that a good
faith effort is made to achieve business opportunities for Small
Businesses, Minority Businesses, Women-Owned Businesses, and Veteran-Owned
Businesses.
We ensure compliance
to policy and procedures regarding Set-Aside opportunities.
We seek internal
and external opportunities for small, minority and women-owned business.
We create
awareness and involvement within UMDNJ to facilitate the goals of
the University as it relates to Set-Aside programs and general purchases.
We recruit
vendors to participate in UMDNJ's overall Set-Aside program.
We assist with
the development of Set-Aside opportunities.
We provide
coordinators for statewide recruitment of vendors to participate
in Set-Aside opportunities.
We provide
assistance in obtaining State Certifications.
We maintain
and distribute set-aside vendor information as opportunities present
themselves.
We transmit
notification of Set-Aside training opportunities.
We provide
referrals for assistance in business development.
We sponsor
the Annual UMDNJ Procurement Fair, Workshops and Awards Luncheon.
We staff state,
local,and relevant national vendor fairs.
We provide
networking with various state, local, corporate and community groups
to develop venues to increase vendor participation,education
and awareness.
We cultivate
relationships with "trade associations" and other local,
state and national affiliations in order to tap into their existing
memberships relating to small, minority, women and veteran entrepreneurs.
