FEDERAL WORK STUDY PROGRAM
How to Apply For Federal Work Study and Federal Community Service Positions
If you are interested in a part time job through the Federal Work Study Program, you must complete the following steps:
The first step requires that you complete an online UMDNJ Employment Application.
- Go to www.umdnj.edu
- Click the “Employment” link located on the left side of the page.
- On the next page, scroll down and insert one of the following online position numbers in the box on the bottom left side of the page and click submit:
“13NS971788” – Newark
“13PS971788” – Piscataway
“13SS971788” – Stratford
- On the following page, click “Apply Online” located at the bottom of the page.
- Complete the online application, preview and submit. Upon submission, print the confirmation page.
The second step requires you to click on to the following link for additional FWS forms that needs to be completed.
Once you have completed the first and second steps, contact the FAO to schedule an appointment with the Federal Work Study Coordinator to go over your FWS hiring packet. If you do not have computer access to complete step one and step two, there are desktop computers available in the Student Financial Aid Office.
Be sure to bring with you the following: your confirmation page, driver’s license and social security card or passport when you meet with the coordinator.
Once you have completed the above steps, the Student Financial Aid Office will determine your eligibility. If you have any questions regarding this process or are no longer interested in the Federal Work Study Program, contact your campus FWS Coordinator.
