Library Services
Reference Services

Reference Librarians are available weekdays until 9:00 pm to provide assistance with research projects, database searching and information retrieval.  Questions may be asked in person, over the phone, by e-mail or by using the “Ask a Librarian” form.

Document Delivery:

Loans and Articles from Other Libraries
Document Delivery is a service provided for obtaining materials which are available at other libraries.  Books and audiovisual materials may be borrowed.  Photocopies may be requested for portions of items such as reference books, reserve materials, and journals. Please allow approximately one week from the date submitted to receive materials. Items available at another UMDNJ library may be received sooner. Patrons are also able to obtain materials in person from other UMDNJ campus libraries. Affiliated users may submit a request using the online request form or by visiting the Library and filling out a request form. For more information about Document Delivery services please see the Library's Document Delivery webpage.

The Library will make every effort to obtain items at no cost. Some items may require prepayment of loan fees, generally $11 per item.

VALE Service
The VALE Reciprocal Borrowing Agreement is a cooperative onsite borrowing agreement among participating member colleges and universities in NJ.  Under the agreement, faculty and staff and students from participating institutions who are in good standing at their home library qualify for onsite borrowing privileges at each other’s libraries.  Users must obtain a signed "VALE Reciprocal Borrowing Application Form," available at their home institution’s library before they can borrow at one of the participating libraries.

Educational Services

Information on campus, University wide, and University Libraries classes, educational resources and services are available on the Library's Education Services and Resources Web page. Individual or group instruction is available by appointment. Faculty members may also request presentations or training tailored to the needs of a specific class or group.

Research, Publication and Presentation Support

Some of the areas in which Library staff can assist users is listed on the Library's Research Support website.
