Analog is a computer program that compiles statistical information about web page usage.

Read the instructions to learn how to use this program.

Before using this program, you should understand what the results mean.

Learn about obtaining statistics about a single web site (or web page) with analog.

Information about web access counters at UMDNJ is available.

You may also access the main web server's statistics.

Select virtual host or hosts

Choose the virtual web server or servers to be analyzed:

Note: If you do not choose any virtual host above, then all them will be analyzed.

Select log file or files

UMDNJ keeps web access log data in several files. A new log file is generally created at the start of a month. You may analyze data in one or all of the files.

Note: No log data were collected on Mar 12 2004 between 11 AM and 2 PM. Data after Mar 12 2004 2 PM contain IP addresses that have not been resolved into domain names. So, the domain report will only report "unresolved numerical addresses." Domain name information will be added to the log data at a later date; stay tuned for more information or email www@umdnj.edu if you have questions or concerns.

(Optional) Specific time period to be analysed

Enter the range of dates in the from YYMMDD:hhmm; or fill in just one box to limit the range of dates on just one side.

When specifying a date, only use the last two digits of the year (Analog assumes that years are between 1970 and 2069.) For example, to analyse requests from July 1999 to June 2000 you would use the following date range:

Note: You do not need to enter any dates above. If you do not, then all the entries in the log file or files you specified earlier will be analyzed. Entering a date range above will only contrain the analysis to part of the log file or files you specified. So, be sure that the log file or filess you chose correspond to the date range you specified above.
