Elizabeth M. Van Houtte, MSW, LSW, CPRP is an Instructor and Employment Consultant in the Integrated Employment Institute in the Department of Psychiatric Rehabilitation and Behavioral Health Care at UMDNJ where she provides training and technical assistance to mental health providers, consumers, families, businesses and others. Previously, Ms. Van Houtte was the Director of a partial hospitalization program that offered services to children, adolescents, adults and seniors. She has spent the last 12 years working in Community Mental Health programs, and more specifically, specializing in the development and implementation of several vocational rehabilitation programs both in the United States and Canada. She was instrumental in the developmental of one of the first consumer driven businesses in Canada. Ms. Van Houtte has presented workshops at conferences throughout the United States and Canada. Prior to coming to the United States, she was employed with the Canadian Mental Health Association and as an Instructor in the Psychosocial Rehabilitation Programs offered at Mohawk and Humber Colleges. She presently serves on the board of directors of NJ Psychiatric Rehabilitation Association (NJPRA). Ms. Van Houtte is a co-author of Hoist Your Own Sails: Self-Directed Employment for People with Disabilities.
