- Do I need to submit GRE scores?
The PA program does not require GRE results. However, if you are applying
to our MPH/MS program,
GRE scores must be submitted with your MPH application to the UMDNJ-School
of Public Health.

- What financial aid is available?

3. The booklet: "Financial Aid Resources for PA Students" can be obtained
by calling the American Academy of Physician Assistants at (703) 836-2272.
The cost is approximately $1.00.

- What is the number of applicants to the program each year?
Between 900 - 1000 2008-2009 academic year.

- How many of these applicants do you interview each year?
Between 150 - 200 per year.

- How many students do you seat in a class per year?
50 per year

- What is the Admissions Committee looking for during the interview?
As in any interview, qualities such as communication skills, motivation
and general interpersonal skills are taken into account. The applicant
should demonstrate a clear understanding of the PA role and how this
fits into the applicant's career goals. Only the most competitive applicants will be interviewed. The applicant is reminded
that competition is very keen for the available spaces.

- When can I expect to hear from the program?
Once the interview process is complete and the class is selected, some applicants may be offered a spot on our
waiting list which we frequently utilize when applicants decline our
offer of acceptance.

- Can I download application material online?
Applicants to the Master's degree program apply through the Centralized Application Service for Physician Assistants (CASPA) (www.CASPAOnline.org).

- Do you have mentoring or tutor programs for your students?
The program provides academic tutors and cognitive skills counselors
to those students in need of them at no cost to the student.

- Do I take classes with the medical students?
Some classes such as Physiology, Medical Ethics, Environmental and Community
Medicine, Cellular Genetics and Mechanisms are taken with the medical
students. Other classes are designed exclusively for the
PA students.

- Do I do a thesis for this Master's degree?
A formal thesis is not required, but a senior project is.

- How will I find housing if accepted to the program?
Housing is readily available off campus. A housing questionnaire is sent
out by the program and information is sent back to students who can
then get together to find suitable housing.

- How do I apply for Advanced Placement within the Program?
Applicants interested in advanced placement should provide documentation
of graduate level course work and submit a letter of request to the
Program Director. Applicants should be aware that for some courses a
placement exam is required.

- Are transfer credits considered in lieu of taking the PA courses?
Transfer credit is only awarded for students seeking advanced placement
(see above). Transfer credit will only be considered for students who
can document equivalent graduate level course work from an accredited
college or university and a grade of "B" or better.

- How can I apply for credit for experiential learning?
Students may apply for credit for experiential learning through the
Office of Enrollment Services in Newark. Applications for credit for
experiential learning will only be considered after a student is accepted
into the PA Program.

- What are the academic standards of the PA Program?
Once accepted into the PA Program, students must maintain a minimum
of a 2.5 grade point average (on a scale where 4.0 = A) in order to
graduate from the Program.
