Living and Working in the Tri-State Area

Housing

The University has Graduate Student Housing on the Newark Campus at 180 West Market. In addition, there is a multitude of accommodation choices around the tri-state area. Many past interns have roomed together to share the cost of an apartment.   As a UMDNJ intern, you will be supplied with the names and addresses of the other interns in your class in case you wish to contact them. The class meets prior to the beginning of the semester, and many interns take this opportunity to look for accommodations.

Transportation

The UMDNJ Newark campus is easily reached on public transportation from New Jersey and New York City. By private transportation, it is within a five minute drive of the Garden State Parkway and the New Jersey Turnpike. The Scotch Plains campus, located in Union County, is close to the Garden State Parkway and Routes 22 and 78. Clinical experience sites are located throughout New Jersey. A car is recommended for travel to clinical sites. Public transportation is available but variety of clinical training sites would be limited.
