Scotch Plains Dental Suite

The University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ) - School of Health Related Professions operates a dental hygiene clinic offering reduced-cost dental hygiene services for children and adults. The Scotch Plains Dental Suite also offers group demonstrations of oral health care instruction for school classes visiting the clinic. The Dental Suite is located on the Union County Vocational-Technical School campus in Scotch Plains, NJ. Click here for map. Medicaid patients are welcome.

Dental Hygiene Services

The Scotch Plains Dental Suite offers preventive services which include:

• medical history review
• blood pressure screening
• oral cancer screening
• dental examination
• periodontal examination to determine the health of the supporting structures of the teeth
• education on current oral hygiene techniques
• nutritional counseling
• dental radiographs (x-rays)
• dental hygiene therapy (scaling)
• polishing of teeth
• fluoride treatments
• dental sealants
• mouthguards

All procedures performed by students are under the supervision of instructors and a licensed dentist and usually require more than one visit to be completed.

The Scotch Plains Dental Suite is open year-round to take your calls and make appointments. Dental hygiene services are available from September to May. To make an appointment, please contact:

There is no charge for dental hygiene treatment of a dental hygiene student’s spouse or children. This does not include treatment for parents, grandparents, siblings, aunts, uncles, or cousins.

A 50% discount is available for patients with partial dentition or less. Please inform the Administrative Coordinator in Scotch Plains for the patient discount.

Patients on Medicaid will receive free dental treatment upon presentation of their card with account number. Please see the Administrative Coordinator for the form to be completed by the patient.

Patients with an annual income of $7,000.00 or less will receive dental hygiene services at a reduced rate. Please inform the Administrative Coordinator so that arrangements may be made.

Transportation

The Scotch Plains Dental Suite is located on the UMDNJ-SHRP campus in Scotch Plains, NJ. It can be reached by car from the Garden State Parkway and US Highway 22. Click here for map and travel directions.

NJ Transit operates bus service to the Scotch Plains Dental Suite, with transfer points in Clark, Linden, Roselle and Elizabeth.
