Dental Assisting: Curriculum
The Dental Assisting curriculum consists of
classroom and clinical coursework offered during
weekday hours. All course work must be completed
within four semesters from initial registration
in the program.

All students are required to complete a total 10 credits of General Education coursework.

*Although
A&P I is not a prerequisite for admission
to the Program, A&P I must be completed
with a grade of "C" or above
prior to the start of the dental coursework

COURSES ARE TAUGHT IN ENGLISH
Students are required to attend classes on multiple campuses. Some courses may be web-enhanced. Students must have access to a computer and internet.
Students are requiured to check email daily. Majority of supplemental course materials are posted on line.
Criminal background checks are performed by the State Board of Dentistry of New Jersey prior to licensure.
* Core course work transferable
to Dental Hygiene Program within 2 years of graduation from UMDNJ's Dental Assisting Program with a grade "C" or above.
** If
individuals wish to apply to the Dental Hygiene
Program, please review all prerequisite requirements.
