RCsources* is a searchable computer database consisting of over 50,000 references to the respiratory care literature. The database includes the full citations for both published and unpublished articles, monographs, books, book chapters, standards, letters and comments pertinent to respiratory care. Most journal article citations include abstracts. You can search RCsources, view the resulting citations and download records directly over the Internet. There are two ways to search Rcsources: Advanced Search (the default) or Quick Search. Advanced Search lets you apply Boolean search expressions on a variety of indexed database fields. Indexed fields in RCsources include Author, Periodical, Title, Publication Date and Keyword. Since RCaccess uses abbreviated journal titles and a controlled key word vocabulary, you will get the best result with Advanced Search by first reviewing or downloading the linked list of Journals and/or Key Words. Although it is possible to search nonindexed fields in RCsources, this option is very slow and simply not practical over the Internet. Therefore, you should avoid searching unindexed fields! . As the name implies, Quick Search is fast and easy, but its results are less predictable. Like Advanced Search, Quick Search uses indexed fields. However, Quick Search does not use Boolean operators. Instead, it simply assumes a Boolean "AND" with multiple word entries. Moreover, unlike Advanced Search, Quick Search forces you to enclose phrases (e.g., "Respiratory Distress Syndrome") in quotes. To use Quick Search, click on the Quick Search button. You can get more detailed help by clicking the Help button on either the Advanced or Quick Search pages. *The RCsources database was developed using Research Information Systems' Procite and Reference Web Poster software.
