The Office of Technology Transfer and Business Development (OTTBD) recognizes the importance of commercializing our technology in order to bring new medicines, medical devices and diagnostics to the health care community and ultimately to the patient. OPL has a critical role as liaison between UMDNJ's administration, faculty, scientists, clinicians and the private sector. The OTTBD's varied role includes providing funding for translational research, managing all university intellectual property, supporting new start up companies and facilitating partnerships with biotechnology, pharmaceutical and medical devices companies worldwide.

OTTBD serves the university's three medical schools, its only dental school, a graduate school of biomedical sciences, a school of health related professionals, a school of nursing and its only school of public health, all located on five separate campuses throughout New Jersey.
