UMDNJ Conflict of Interest Committee
A primary objective of UMDNJ’s research mission is to promote and accomplish discovery, technological developments and commercialization in order to advance scientific knowledge, enhance medical care practices and policies and improve patient and community outcomes through laboratory, clinical and public health investigation. The University is increasingly associated with industry in the pursuit of research. A partnership between the University and industry is essential to enhance the potential of biomedical research. Partnerships with industry can create serious conflicts of interest. These pressures compel the University to reaffirm its highest values of protecting the integrity of research, the safety of human research subjects, and the trust of the public.
The University has an obligation to protect the integrity and objectivity of the research conducted at the University while balancing the need for promoting partnerships with industry. This is accomplished by the UMDNJ Conflict of Interest Committee whose role is to review financial and other personal disclosures of significant interest, determine if these constitute a conflict of interest and, if so, to decide how such conflicts will be managed, reduced or eliminated.
The Committee is comprised of University Faculty and management personnel from several schools, campuses and administrative units. Click here to see the list of Committee members.
