The American Health Foundation (AHF), founded in 1969, is a not-for-profit private research organization devoted primarily to the prevention of chronic diseases, especially cancer. This is realized through an interdisciplinary research and intervention approach implemented by investigators in epidemiology and biostatistics; analytical, synthetic, biological and clinical chemistry; molecular biology; cell biology; nutrition; endocrinology; pathology; and behavioral sciences.

Each year, the AHF staff publishes more than 120 scientific papers in peer-reviewed scientific and medical journals.

The American Health Information Community [AHIC] was chartered in 2005 by the United States Department of Health and Human Services [HHS] to advance efforts to have electronic health records for all Americans.

AHIC was chartered for 2 years with the option to renew for no more than 5 years. The intention is to replace AHIC with a private-sector health information community initiative that would set additional needed standards, certify new health information technology, and provide long-term governance for health care transformation.

All AHIC meetings are webcast.

The 51,000 professional members of the American Health Information Management Association [AHIMA] are involved in classifying and analyzing health information, transitioning from paper to computer-based medical records, and enhancing data quality while maintaining patient confidentiality and information security. AHIMA is instrumental in developing industry standards, advrocating relevant legislation, and providing education in health information. It began in 1928 as the Association of Record Librarians of North America.

The official publication of AHIMA is the Journal of AHIMA.
