Credit Cards for UMDNJ Postdoctoral Appointees
The Office of Postdoctoral Affairs has arranged with Fleet
Bank to offer credit cards and various other banking conveniences for
UMDNJ Postdoctoral Appointees. This benefit is open to all UMDNJ
postdocs, but may be of special significance to our international postdocs
and graduate students, whose lack of credit history often prevents them
from obtaining a credit card.
Credit cards with a maximum starting credit line of $500 can be applied
for by completing an application form available through the Office of
Postdoctoral Affairs. The completed application should be returned to the
OPA with copies of two forms of identification, such as a current
University ID, driver's license or passport. The form must be submitted to
the bank by the OPA, and you must have a valid Social Security number.
In addition to the credit card, direct deposit of your payroll check will
give you the following benefits:
- Free checking with no minimum balance
- Unlimited check writing
- Free online banking and Fleet/Bank America ATM access

with the application form.
