POSTDOCTORAL POSITION AT THE CHILD HEALTH INSTITUTE

Summary
We are looking for highly motivated and talented postdocs to work in the newly constructed state-of-art research institute - Child Health Institute of New Jersey. Under the direction of Dr. Zhiping Pang the fellow will be responsible for the design, analysis, interpretation, and presentation of experiments regarding the study of the molecular mechanism on regulation of synaptic transmission in mammalian brain and human neurons derived from human tissue. The applicant should have strong background in neuroscience and/or cell biology and be able to perform molecular, cellular and/or electrophysiological experiments.

Essential duties and responsibility
Designs, performs and analyzes electrophysiology, molecular biology, cell biology and in vivo behavioral experiments. The candidates are expected to perform animal experiments using mice; generation of lentiviral vector for in vivo or in vitro gene delivery; primary neuronal culture; human fibroblast and pluripotent stem cell culture.

The applicant will review, analyze, and report relevant literatures, assist the PI in the preparation of manuscripts and grant applications relevant to the experimental work. Will supervise and teach specific techniques to undergraduate and graduate students working in the laboratory. Will perform other related duties, as assigned.

Education and qualification requirements
Qualified candidates must hold a Ph.D. or M.D. degree in Neuroscience or relevant biological sciences. Prior experience with electrophysiology, neuronal culture, protein complex purification and cell imaging techniques are preferred. Effective communication skills, highly motivated, self-driven, creative, and interactive, ability to work collaboratively and independently are also required.
