POSTDOCTORAL POSITION IN HOST-BACTERIA INTERACTIONS AND DIABETES
UMDNJ-Department of Periodontics
SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Principal Investigator (PI), the individual is expected to design, conduct and interpret original research, to publish the results in peer-reviewed journals, participate in grant writing and to participate cooperatively in projects with other members of the laboratory. This position involves full-time research and scholarship, as well as additional professional training preparatory for a scientific career in academia or industry.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES;
The laboratory studies the effect of diabetes and inflammation on cell signaling and the regulation of transcription factors. Experience with in vitro experiments including plasmid preparation and cloning, transfection of mammalian cells, reporter gene assays, RNAi, immunoblots, ChlP assays, gel electrophoresis, and PCR is desired.
QUALIFICATIONS: An individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. This person should have experience in molecular and in vitro techniques as described above. The position requires the ability to lead projects and work cooperatively with other projects, carryout and trouble-shoot experiments, and assist in grant and manuscript writing. An understanding of histologic analysis would be useful.
The salary is commensurate with NIH guidelines.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
PhD or equivalent in one of the basic medical sciences.
