POSTDOCTORAL POSITION IN SYNAPTIC TRANSMISSION-ALCOHOL ADDICTION
A NIH-funded postdoctoral fellow or research associate position is available immediately in the Department of Anesthesiology/ Pharmacology and Physiology, University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, New Jersey Medical School. We are seeking a creative, motivated individual to participate in electrophysiological (patch clamp on brain slices and/or isolated neurons) studies of synaptic transmissions, with primary focus on mechanism of alcohol-induced changes in neuronal function. Research projects are aimed at understanding pharmacological modification of synaptic plasticity by signal transduction pathways, cellular and sub-cellular mechanisms related to alcoholism. Candidates should have an interest in alcohol and drug abuse research, and academic/research training in relevant areas such as: cellular and membrane physiology, signal transduction, neuroscience. Experience in electrophysiology, slice patch technique is desirable but not required. The candidate will receive comprehensive training in electrophysiology, pharmacology, cell dissociation and brain slice as needed, along with practical skills such as data acquisition/analysis and graphics.
