POSTDOCTORAL POSITION IN THE BIOLOGY OF CANCER

SUMMARY:
The primary purpose of the Postdoctoral Appointee position is to conduct research for the PI’s newly funded laboratory research program.  Specifically, to conduct basic and translational cancer research on cancer stem cells and their microenvironment and to expand this model into an animal model of lymphoma pathogenesis
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Supervision of undergraduate students
  2. Conduct preclinical studies evaluating novel drugs for their ability to kill cancer stem cells
  3. Must have extensive experience in xenograft models of stem cells or cancer
  4. Must have a strong interest in cancer stem cell biology
  5. Research experience with advanced cell/molecular biology and flow cytometry is highly desired
  6. Experience in the construction siRNA lentivirus vectors helpful
  7. Understands and adheres to UMDNJ's compliance standards as they appear in UMDNJ's Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy.
  8. Keep abreast of all pertinent federal, state, and UMDNJ regulations, laws and policies as they presently exist and as they change or are modified.
  9. Performs other related duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
 
Ph.D. in a relevant science. Must be proficient in the use of mice as animal model of cancer and extensive experience with all aspects of animal husbandry (animal surgery, xenografts, tail vein injections) and knowledge of all IACUC and AAALAC guidelines.  Experience with molecular and cell biology techniques including, DNA cloning, western blot, PCR, cell culture, flow cytometry, RT-PCR and micoarray analysis.  Effective oral and written communication skills.  Must be computer literate with proficiency and working knowledge of database and reporting tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
