POSTDOCTORAL POSITION IN STEM CELL DEVELOPMENT

Summary
The primary purpose of the Postdoctoral Appointee position is to work under the direction of the principal investigator, using various approaches of cell and molecular biology, protein biochemistry, or animal models to investigate the roles of hematopoietic transcription factors in stem cell plasticity, lineage commitment, and molecular etiology of cancer stem cells.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Acquire detailed knowledge of published research in the area of investigation
2. Design laboratory experiments to address the scientific questions
3. Execute laboratory experiments of a highly specialized nature. Troubleshoot technical problems that may be encountered
4. Carry out detailed and critical analysis of experimental results. Report these results to PI and colleagues in a coherent and comprehensive manner
5. Prepare manuscripts describing experimental results for publication
6. Understands and adheres to UMDNJ's compliance standards as they appear in UMDNJ's Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy.
7.Keeps abreast of all pertinent federal, state and UMDNJ regulations, laws, and policies as they presently exist and as they change or are modified.
8. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

Ph.D. Degree in a scientific discipline within the biomedical field (Biochemistry, Cell Biology, Pharmacology, Molecular biology etc...) granted by a US academic institution. Extensive knowledge of research methodologies, protocols, and specialized scientific and laboratory techniques consistent with biomedical research, including cell culture, molecular analysis, and recombinant DNA technology. Basic knowledge of scientific theory required for developing protocols used in state of the art biomedical research. Basic knowledge of University and government safety regulations. Effective oral and written communication skills. Must be computer literate with proficiency and working knowledge of database and reporting tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access,a nd PowerPoint.
