The UMDNJ-New Jersey Medical School in Newark, NJ invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professorship position in the Department of Neurological Surgery to direct the newly established Timothy Reynolds Family Spinal Cord Injury Laboratory. The SCI lab will focus on translational research that will provide the basis for treatment of acute and chronic spinal cord trauma including the use of potential stem cell based therapies. The State of New Jersey has made abundant resources available for research in both SCI and stem cells to New Jersey based researchers.
We are seeking a dynamic individual with a Ph.D. and/or M.D./Ph.D. with extensive experience in research related to experimental spinal cord injury. Experience with stem cell based work in SCI is an additional advantage. The position includes substantial start-up support and 1500 sq. ft. of open lab space in a state-of-the-art, newly constructed, research facility with outstanding core facilities. The candidate should possess an established track record of obtaining research grants or demonstrate potential for academic achievement and extramural funding. Salary will be commensurate with experience.
