Training Calendar
NJMS Global Tuberculosis Institute (GTBI) web-based seminars are open to all participants in the United States. For in-person courses, GTBI prioritizes participants from the Northeast Region (Baltimore, Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York City, New York State, Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Washington, DC), which is served by GTBI.

Effective TB Interviewing and Contact InvestigationHarrisburg, PA
This four-day, skills-building training is for health department staff are responsible for conducting TB contact investigations. Topics will include overview of contact investigation concepts, essentials of communication and interviewing skills, and congregate setting investigations. In addition to lectures, there will be multiple groups activities and practice interviews which include feedback from experienced facilitators. Brochure

Pennsylvania TB Update Harrisburg, PA
This course will provide updates on current topics in tuberculosis, including diagnosis and treatment of latent TB infection, pediatric TB, contact investigations in congregate settings, legal interventions, and TB in correctional facilities. TB Intensive WorkshopNewark, NJ
This workshop for clinicians provides comprehensive information on the principles and application of TB diagnosis and treatment, as well as the management of TB in special populations. Topics will include transmission and pathogenesis, diagnosis and treatment, infection control, drug resistance, TB-HIV co-infection, TB in children and adolescents, and key aspects of patient management. The four-day course utilizes a variety of teaching methods, including lectures, interactive discussions, small group work and case studies to enhance TB knowledge and clinical practice. This meeting is intended for physicians who are TB medical consultants for TB programs within the Northeast United States. Registration is by invitation only. Medical Update #2: Pitfalls in the Diagnosis & Management of TBWeb-Based
This web-based seminar for physicians and nurses will cover atypical presentations of tuberculosis which may complicate, and at times, delay the diagnosis and medical management of tuberculosis disease. Case examples will be included to illustrate examples of challenges in diagnosis and management of complex TB cases. In addition, speakers will share experiences on how to manage such cases using existing resources.
