Course Description
Tuberculosis (TB) is a communicable disease with standardized regimens for medical treatment. When drug resistance, persistent disease, or other complications occur, medical resolution of the disease may not be the only feasible option. This web-based seminar will cover the indications for surgery in TB patients. A case presentation will be included.

Target Audience
Clinicians who deal with the treatment of and surgery in TB patients.

Objectives

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Identify the indications for surgery in TB patients
  • Discuss the pre-operative, operative, and post-operative medical and diagnostic procedures used in TB surgery
  • Apply principles of collaborative management in surgical candidates requiring medical follow-up
  • Recognize risk factors for relapse of TB disease post-surger

Course Requirements
Registration priority will be given to individuals within the Northeastern Region, including Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Indiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont and West Virginia.

Participants must have Internet access (high-speed preferred), a speaker phone, and an email address to receive course information. If multiple persons wish to participate at one site, there is no limit to the number of participants. However, sites must identify a contact person to receive conference information and collect and submit completed evaluation forms and sign-in sheet.

All communication for this program will be done email so please ensure you provide a correct address which can be easily accessed.

Please complete the registration process online by clicking here. If a group is participating together in the same room, only one person in the group should register. You will receive notification of acceptance of your registration at least 2 weeks prior to the seminar date.

Fee
This conference is free; however, there is a $10 charge per person for Continuing Education Credits. Participants may sign up for credits on the sign-in sheet which will be available prior to the conference. Payment must be received by February 20, 2008.
