Course Description
The purpose of this interactive three-day course is to provide healthcare workers who interview tuberculosis patients with the necessary knowledge and skills to conduct an interview for contact investigation. The course covers the principles of effective communication, interviewing, and contact investigation related to tuberculosis. The format includes lectures, group discussions, exercises, role playing and standardized patient interviews

Target Audience
This workshop is designed for health care workers who interview TB patients for the purpose of contact investigation

Objectives

Upon completion of this course participants will be able to:

  • Demonstrate fundamentals of effective communication and structuring interviews
  • Appropriately verbalize TB concepts for patient education
  • Apply principles of TB transmission to contact investigation process
  • Identify critical components of contact investigation
  • Describe techniques and approaches that can be used to achieve effective cross-cultural communication when interviewing TB patients
  • Identify strategies for working with interpreters
