Peter W. Carmel, M.D., D. Med Sci

Elected to AMA Board of Trustees On June 18, 2002.

The American Medical Association's House of Delegates voted for Peter Carmel, MD, chairman of the Department of Neurological Surgery at the New Jersey Medical School, to serve a four-year term on the AMA Board of Trustees. This is the first time in the AMA's 175-year history that a neurosurgeon has served on its board.

Gladys Knight will perform in concert at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) on Thursday, October 24.

The 20,000 square feet of space within the NINJ Clinical Facility houses patient-friendly reception and waiting areas, including a dedicated pediatric area, as well as 20 examination/treatment rooms, including several specialty rooms. Up to 25 physicians have permanent offices on this floor, with additional office space available for visiting clinicians.

To fulfill its educational mission, the NINJ Clinical Facility also serves as a training site for residency programs related to neurolgoical specialites. In addition to a large conference room, there is a smaller conference room and library for residents. An audiology testing room and a neuroradiology suite are also part of the facility. The neurradiology suite contains state-of-the-art PACS equipment for display of radiological images. These units are will soon be linked to surrounding area hospitals to provide community physicians with 24-hour teleradiology services.
