The Division of Pediatric Neurosurgery is headed by Dr.Peter W. Carmel, M.D., D Med Sci, Chairman of the Department of Neurological Surgery at NJ Medical School and Co-Director of the Neurological Institute of New Jersey

With its commitment to referring physicians and its multidisciplinary approach, the division provides a resource center of university-level specialist and subspecialist, including Pediatrics, Neurology, Otolaryngology, Emergency medicine, Plastic Surgery, Oncology, Cranial and Oral Maxillofacial Reconstruction, as well as General and Family Medicine.

Division of Pediatric Neurosurgery

The Division offers the most experienced, technologically advanced, and comprehensive pediatric neurosurgery program in New Jersey, comparable in quality and scope to the major teaching hospitals in New York and Philadelphia. The program is dedicated to helping pediatricians manage the spectrum of pediatric neurosurgical cases, including tumors, seizures, AVM's, and trauma. Led by Dr. Peter Carmel, a premier pediatric neurosurgeon, the program manages a high number of pediatric brain tumors and offers the most advanced procedures in computer-guided and minimally-invasive surgical techniques. The division recently reported the highest number of successfully treated craniopharyngiomas in North America.
