The Department of Neurological Surgery provides neurosurgical care at the highest level of both technological and surgical accomplishment. For many years complex neurosurgical cases in New Jersey were referred to University centers in New York and Philadelphia. We have created a New Jersey neurosurgical center comparable to university centers anywhere.

The highest level of neurosurgical care requires highly sub-specialized neurosurgical effort. Specialized programs in pediatric neurosurgery, spinal surgery, skull base surgery, peripheral nerve surgery, vascular neurosurgery and trauma have permitted the realization of this goal. Our emphasis on high technology has been recognized by industry and the Department is a development site for major computer, microscope and instrument manufacturers insuring that we remain on the advanced edge of neurosurgical developments.
