Endowed Lectureship Weekly Grand Rounds Schedule CONFERENCES Conferences are an important part of neurosurgical training. At conference times, elective surgery will not be scheduled and emergencies will be handled by the faculty with the aid of general surgery rotators and/or medical students. The following is a schedule of conferences: Neurosurgery Grand Rounds These rounds are held weekly and consists of visiting lecturers, lectures by faculty in related disciplines, didactic talks by neurosurgical faculty and residents, and case presentations. Neurology Grand Rounds These rounds are held bi-weekly and consist of case presentations with patient examinations and related didactic discussion. Neuropathology Conference These conferences are held bi-weekly and consist of brain cutting followed by histologic presentation of current cases. The neurosurgical service presents clinical histories as well as imaging studies and interoperative photos. Neurosurgical Journal Club These sessions are held monthly. Papers from current journals, related to a specific topic, are presented and critically discussed. Morbidity & Mortality Review This conference is held bi-monthly. Board Review During these sessions residents prepare for the written exam of the ABNS by reviewing selected topics under the supervision of faculty members. |
